Rich Handley, friend to Apes fans all over the world thanks to his efforts as author of the Hasslein Books reference books Timeline of the Planet of the Apes and Lexicon of the Planet of the Apes, as well as co-editing Sequart's The Sacred Scrolls: Comics on the Planet of the Apes, has gone public on Facebook with his next book project: "Well, the cat has gotten out of the proverbial bag, so here's a follow-up to what I ambiguously mentioned here yesterday: I have contracted with Titan Books and 20th Century Fox to co-edit (with Jim Beard) and contribute to an officially licensed short fiction anthology based on the Planet of the Apes films and TV show. This will be the first time anyone has ever published a Planet of the Apes short fiction anthology, so it's a pretty big deal--especially since the often-ignored TV series will be represented in the lineup. The book, due out in 2017 (timed for release shortly before the next Apes film), will feature an amazing lineup of authors, including several you'd find on the best-seller lists (more info about the contributors to come at a later date, once all of the authors have signed on the dotted line). Saying I'm excited about this would be woefully inadequate. I'm positively ape-shit over it."
